How to talk about the threats on earth with children?

HERE ARE A FEW TIPS FOR TALKING TO CHILDREN ABOUT THREATS TO THE EARTH

WOULD YOU LIKE TO RAISE AWARENESS AND EDUCATE CHILDREN ABOUT THE DEPLETION OF natural RESOURCES? IT’S EASY WITH YOUTH CONSERVATION! TAKE A LOOK!

The Youth Conservation platform offers an in-depth exploration of the theme of “threats to the Earth”. On their own or as a class, children can take part in course 4 entitled “The major threats on Earth – what major threats the planet is facing and how can I do to limit them?”. This course is entirely devoted to discovering and understanding the major threats to our planet, which is becoming increasingly depleted by the day. It also suggests practical ways in which we can take care of and preserve our planet. There are also additional educational resources available to help you learn more about the subject. These resources are available in the “Resources” section of the site and can be downloaded free of charge.

Here’s a path you can follow if you want to tackle this theme:

Part 1: discovering the major threats on earth

In part 1, you can remind children that our beautiful planet is the source of our life. We depend on it for everything. It guarantees our future! And yet every day we are using up more and more of its vital resources.

Together with your children, discover what the planet has to offer, and how to look after it so that it can continue to do so for thousands of years to come.

Part 2: understanding the main causes of resources depletion

You can then look in more detail at the various causes of the Earth’s depletion: the increase in the world’s population, the loss and degradation of habitats, pollution, climate change, etc. All these phenomena, often linked to human activities, threaten the Earth’s fragile balance and the survival of us all.

Part 3: Acting to preserve natural resources

At last, pass on the solutions with the children! If we are to avoid exhausting all the Earth’s resources, we need to change our consumer-based way of life, which is reaching its limits in the face of the environmental disruption we are causing. Our consumption of natural resources already far exceeds the Earth’s capacity. Our way of life is not sustainable and we need to learn to reduce the impact of our development on the planet and, if possible, repair what can be repaired. So what can we do in practical terms, on our own scale, collectively and individually?

This is what you can discuss with the children, using module 4 here.
