On Friday, February 28, 2025, the Climate Action Club (CAC) was officially launched at the Espérance School Complex in Walia, located in the 9th district of N’Djamena, Chad. This initiative is part of the broader program “Eco-Citizenship in Schools for a Healthy Mind in a Healthy Environment.” This launch marks the beginning of a transformative effort to work with 20 schools—primary, secondary, and high schools—in the 7th and 9th districts of N’Djamena, actively involving students in climate action and sustainable practices.

Empowering Youth for Climate Action

As future leaders and decision-makers, young people must be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to combat climate change and promote responsible environmental management. Through the Climate Action Club, students will have the opportunity to learn, practice, and advocate for sustainability.

A Holistic Approach to Environmental Education

The Climate Action Club’s activities include:

  • Weekly Educational Workshops: Led by dedicated volunteers, these sessions will cover key environmental topics and foster critical thinking.
  • Practical Activities: Students will engage in games, debates, and school gardening projects to reinforce experiential learning.
  • Tree Planting Events: Students, teachers, and volunteers will come together to plant trees in designated areas, creating a tangible connection with nature.
  • Leadership Development Programs: Training sessions focused on leadership, advocacy, and communication will enable students to become ambassadors for climate action.
  • School Competitions: Creative contests and project presentations on environmental themes will encourage student engagement and innovation.

Fostering a Culture of Sustainability

The ultimate goal of this initiative is to cultivate a culture of sustainability by encouraging students to take an active role in protecting their environment and advocating for climate action within their communities. Through targeted awareness campaigns, the program will share essential knowledge and skills related to environmental protection, empowering students to become agents of sustainable development in their schools and beyond.

By providing young people with education and opportunities for action, the Climate Action Club aims to establish a lasting commitment to environmental conservation and climate resilience.
