Project “Acting for Nature Conservation”: a look back at the activities held by the NGO Poumon Vert (Senegal)

The initiative “Acting for Nature Conservation – Educating and Empowering Future Eco-Citizens in Africa”, launched some months ago in partnership with the Audemars Watkins Foundation and Play for Nature, is already showing promising results on the ground!

This initiative supports 10 NGOs actively working in Burkina Faso, Benin, Cameroon, Senegal, and Madagascar. Their shared mission: raising youth awareness about environmental preservation through educational and engaging activities.

Numerous initiatives have already been rolled out. Despite the intense heat and heavy rains, children and young people are enthusiastic, school administrators and teachers are highly involved, and the NGOs are more motivated than ever!

As part of the “Acting for Nature Conservation” project, the Poumon Vert Association energized the coastal cities of Mbour, Saly, and Somone with a series of engaging activities that blended sports, art, and environmental discovery to foster eco-citizenship among youth.

A Green Wave Reaches Kaffrine

Inspired by the initiative, youth in Kaffrine spontaneously launched a new Poumon Vert branch—proof that the project is both replicable and empowering.
Phase 2, running from October 2025 to June 2026, will build on this momentum with:

  • closer follow-up of youth environmental ambassadors,
  • enhanced educational tools,
  • stronger collaboration between schools, families, and communities.

The seed is planted; a forest of initiatives is growing. Youth Conservation will continue to follow this inspiring movement that transforms youth energy into tangible environmental impact.
