Green Orat’hon at Soa: Empowering Youth for Environmental Awareness in Cameroon

Environmental awareness in Cameroon reached a new milestone on October 20 and 22, 2025, at the Soa High School. Thirty students took part in the Green Orat’hon, an initiative led by MACHE Dolorès, climate activist and president of NatureGivesBack, with the support of Youth Conservation resources — in particular, the online tutorial Educating for Nature Conservation.

The program was structured around three main themes:

🌍 Environmental advocacy – teaching students how to become change-makers in their communities
🌳 Tree planting – contributing to biodiversity and local green spaces
💧 Smart irrigation workshop – discovering how technology can support sustainable agriculture and water management

The school’s environmental club coordinator accompanied the students throughout the activity.

These actions enable young people not only to understand environmental challenges but also to develop practical skills to take action. Engaging youth in environmental education is key to shaping a new generation of eco-responsible citizens in Cameroon.
