An active and committed eco club!
DISCOVER THE HISTORY OF THE NATURE CLUB SET UP BY THE BENINE NGO POUMON VERT
The Poumon Vert Eco Club has been working in the locality of M’bour, in Senegal, since December 2022 with efficiency and commitment. All volunteers are committed to sustainability through numerous actions to protect the environment.
Poumon Vert presents itself as a “vector of civic-mindedness and eco-citizenship particularly among young people” as stated in their slogan “Poumon Vert, the factory of eco-citizens”.
Thus, over the last months of 2024, they organized the following activities in particular:
. The Green School Challenge program which took place at Falokh Primary School in April 2024: by integrating urban forestry into the school curriculum, by creating green spaces within participating schools, and by introducing our children to the incalculable benefits of nature, Poumon Vert intends to lay the foundations for a future generation resolutely focused on respect and preservation of the planet. . A drawing competition focused on the environment: this initiative mobilized the commitment of young eco-citizen leaders who produced inspiring works, reflecting their connection with nature and their concern for its preservation.
. Sports meetings because sport is “a powerful tool for connection and joy”: these sports gatherings, beyond the fun side, reflect the crucial importance of sport in our well-being and its essential role as a pillar of sustainable development . Through this activity, members highlighted how sport not only promotes physical and mental health, but also acts as a vector of peace, tolerance, and social inclusion.
